Wills and Estate Planning
Planning your estate can be very involved and there are many different aspects to take into account.
Estate planning is not just something that should be considered for wealthy or retired people. No matter how modest your assets might be without proper planning there could one day be complications and higher costs incurred by your family if not dealt with beforehand.
Often families can have complicated dynamics and there is often the potential for conflict in the future if relationships break down or after death. At the very least most people want to protect their families inheritance and qualified advisors should undertake this.
Wills – Don’t leave it to chance
It is a fact that although most of us will have at some point thought about making a will, only 30% of the population have done so.
Many people believe that making a will is something that they should do when they are older, consequently thousands of people die each year intestate and the loved ones who one assumes might inherit do not.
Our partners have 25 years experience producing wills and can offer expert advise that could save you and your loved ones thousands of pounds, they will advise on whether you should use a Trust fund, they will assist with probate, again this could save a great deal of money also with inheritance protection, your loved ones would be in a better position to inherit more of your hard earned estate.
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)
There are two kinds of LPA; one concerns any financial decisions to be made for you such as how your property is managed and how your bills would be paid (LPA Property and Affairs); and the other which regards your healthcare, medical treatment and where your should live if you were to move in to a residential care home (LPA Health and Welfare).
For a Property and Affairs LPA, you can decide whether it should be useable earlier (e.g. if you want someone to take care of financial affairs while you travel) or only in certain circumstances (e.g. if you become incapable). A Health and Welfare LPA can only be used to take decisions for which you lack the mental capacity.
